Why Pay Your Taxes?

Sharing

Why pay your taxes? I mean, why pay your taxes until you’ve been chosen for President Obama’s cabinet?

Most folks pay with little or no threat of having to serve on Obama’s brain trust.

I pay because my wife tells me to and she agrees to fill out the forms. Some folks pay because they like all or much of what government does. Others may hate the waste, folly, or unconstitutional criminality of the bulk of government spending, but pay taxes out of a sense of duty.

Or fear.

But what of those politicians who constantly put forth the importance — the glorious nobility — of granting government an ever-larger role? Why would they fail to pay their taxes to support that government?

The latest is the current nominee to head the Health and Human Services Department, Kansas Governor Kathleen Sebelius. She owes $7,000 in back taxes, which now that she’s in line to be a cabinet secretary, she’s taking care of.

House Ways and Means Committee Chairman Charles Rangel hasn’t paid his tax bill. Sebelius’s predecessor, former Senate Majority Leader Tom Daschle withdrew his nomination because of, yes, tax problems. And who can forget Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner? He paid up after he was nominated. But of course, he was “too big to fail.”

Maybe it’s how our leaders see the division of labor: We pay, they spend.

This is Common Sense. I’m Paul Jacob.

Well, y’know, I don’t guess anybody really has to pay their taxes, but most of us do. As long as they are reasonble. I don’t like my tax money spent on honey bee research, or grasshoppers and crickets. Unless it benefits me in some form or fashion. It seems that the government has forgotten the Constitution of the United States of America.…the flag…one Nation under God, indivisable..
Our esteemed politicians have elected themselves out of our control. What about term limits?
What about liberty and justice for all?
When I was a teenager many moons ago, I played trumpet in one of the best bands in the state, and went on to a University that was one of the best in the whole country. That made me one of the top ten players in sll of the US.
That being said, when I was 16, we stupidly ended the Pledge with“for all trumpet players”.
When I was a child, I thought and acted as a child. Now that I am grown, I must separate myself from childish things.
When will it ever end? Our president cannot even come up with a decent gift for the Queen of England (an I‑Pod, complete with his campaign speeches)!
My point is this. Stand up for your rights, or you may find yourself deprived of them. I have a lot more to say, but I hope I made a worthwhile comment. Gotta go for now.
Your friend from the Delta.

Ben Franklin once said, “The only things certain in life are death and taxes”.

I keep it simple, “Death to the taxers”.

Thinking about something you can’t control is a waste of energy. If you don’t like what this gang is doing and you don’t vote against them, then don’t complain. Vote anti-incumbent every time you vote. No one is indispensable.
I pay my taxes because I am not in the club that gets to pay taxes at will. They refile. I might be allowed to refile but I will incur penalties that none of these people ever will. Let me go to the IRS with a TurboTax defense and they will laugh in my face and then throw the book at me.
