Celebrating work and laborers in late summer, rather than — as anti-capitalist radicals did — on May First, was a big win when in 1894 Congress made, the first Monday of September “Labor’s Holiday.” This small win over communism and murderous anarchism alone is worth a “Happy Labor Day” greeting!
