William of Ockham

Logic is the most useful tool of all the arts. Without it no science can be fully known.

William of Ockham (c. 1287 – 1347) — he of “Occam’s Razor” — in Summa Logicae (c. 1323).

Ockham’s Razor was earlier pronounced by Aristoteles. And Ockham clearly expressed at least one of two laws of logic later named for Augustus De Morgan (27 June 1806 – 18 March 1871). 

That’s just how things go.
