The House Oversight and Government Reform Committee recommends that Attorney General Eric Holder be held in contempt of Congress for his refusal to turn over thousands of subpoenaed documents.
Motivations may be hard to decipher, but Democrats charge Republicans with evil partisanship. But then, the president’s claim of executive privilege in “Fast and Furious”-gate is surely every bit as partisan. As was the same plot that played out (several times) when Bush was in the White House and Democrats controlled Congress.
It takes a partisan to know a partisan.
There is no disputing that the ATF botched the effort to trace illegal gun trafficking, handing over thousands of guns to criminals who used the weapons to murder lots of people, including Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry.
That seems worth an investigation.
Holder’s congressional testimony regarding when he first heard of the program has since been proved “inaccurate.” He followed this by refusing to hand over documents. Then, when the contempt vote was at hand, President Obama claimed executive privilege to shield Holder.
Obama once promised the “most transparent and accountable administration in history.” Give that promise a funeral.
Mr. Obama and Mr. Holder work for you and me. The documents — those shedding light on the disastrous gun-walking program and any that illuminate a cover-up — belong to us.
So, why do so many media mavens excuse, rather than accuse, the administration? MSNBC’s Chris Matthews suggested that the whole investigation is racist. But Chris, why don’t you want to see the documents?
This is Common Sense. I’m Paul Jacob.

There is nothing racist about an open investigation, such a motivation only is possible with a biased conclusion. When is the average citizen going to wake up that giving any group more deference is discriminatory?
After the popular election of an American of color to its presidency it should be that the race card be recognized no longer as trump.
What we are seeing here a an imperial presidency and administration with no respect for the seperaton of powers or the Constitution generally.
Humm, Let me guess why “Toilet Paper” Holder won’t release the Documents… I bet they show that President Zero is implicated, knew about, and approved the program. What do you think?
There was a far more sinister motive behind the “Fast & Furious” scheme than not tracking the guns. The Obama administration established the program to undercut our Second Amendment.
Perhaps you’ll recall all the media stories decrying the supposed fact that 90% of Mexico’s guns were coming from the US, highlighting the need for additional gun control.
Oddly enough, these stories dried up then the truth about this program came out.
Whatever suspicions folks have (and I’ve got plenty) or concerns about the motivations of Rs and Ds, why on earth would the press be arguing against disclosure of documents?
Much of the media is not only in the tank for Obama, they are so deep in that tank that if they come up too quickly they’ll get the bends.
Not that I’m saying that’s a bad thing. 🙂
.… There is no disputing that the ATF botched the effort to trace illegal gun trafficking .…
On the contrary, there is not the slightest scintilla of evidence to suggest the ATF either ever intended to or ever actually track/traced a single one of the weapons it insisted be sold to Mexican murderers.
Which dog that did not bark lends considerable weight to the assertion that the gun-grabber-wannabe gangster government’s Gun-Walker/Fast and Furious was a Rahm-Emanuel-esque scheme to create the appearance of a crisis, to not waste.
You mean MSNBC is STILL broadcasting? That is truly amazing, given how little relavance thy continue to ply the air with.
OUR ESTEEMED (SARCASTIC) ATTORNEY GENERAL HAS ALSO, FOR ABOUT 1 YEAR, REFUSED TO ANSWER QUESTIONS AND/OR PROVIDE DOCUMENTS TO A HOUSE JUDICIARY COMMITTEE, ABOUT THE ” HOLY LAND FOUNDATION” TRIAL- FOR PROVIDIGN TERORIST FUNDING.
LOOKS LIEK HOLDER JUST LIKES TO AVOID ANSWERING QUESTIONS BY CONGRESSIONAL COMMITTEES.
WONDER HOW MUCH (MORE) HE AHS TO HIDE.
Please. Nothing was “bothced”.
They were caught flat-footed attempting to “proove” the claim that ALL guns used in the Mexican
crime wars come from our gun stores. Watergate did not have a body-count. This does
It looks like Obama, learning of the Fast & Furious plan (started by Bush) decided it’d be a good idea for US guns to end up killing folks in Mexico, as a reason to outlaw gun sales. And that’s what they are covering up.
If a private citizen did what the BATF did, they’d be prosecuted and jailed. But our government employees can do this? Who thinks this is a good idea? No one.
What we have is a two class society. If you break the law you go to jail. That is unless you work for the government, then you get a pass. The government class believes the rules don’t apply to them, but they are happy to prosecute the citizen class for the same actions for which government employees get a pass.
Reminds me of the 300+ DC government employees who were caught collecting federal unemployment benefits while working for the DC government. A few have been sued to get the money back. None that I’m aware of have been indicted or prosecuted for fraud/theft. They all should be prosecuted to the full extent of the law.
