House Envy

How many homes do I own? Just one. That’s all I can afford.

But what if I had more money and bought a vacation home or two? Would that somehow make me a bad guy?

Not in my book. I don’t hold wealth as a strike against someone. Rather, it’s a likely sign of hard work, dedication and smarts. Some of my favorite people are wealthy. In fact, I’d like to be wealthy myself someday. My wife is all for that.

That’s why I find it repulsive that Barack Obama and some in the media are pouncing on Senator John McCain for the terrible offense of owning a number of homes. Seven, apparently. He’s been successful and his wife has been even more so. Good for them.

Funny, I don’t recall Obama attacking the prominent congressmen who received sweetheart home loan deals from lenders, with obvious reason to be currying congressional favor. And while McCain is slapped for owning several homes, at least he makes the payments. Haven’t heard a peep from Obama about Congresswoman Laura Richardson of California. She defaulted on one of her homes and the lender foreclosed. But then, mysteriously, the lender rescinded the foreclosure and returned the home to the congresswoman.

Hmmm. Silence when politicians use their positions for material gain? Attacks when McCain pays his own way!

Regular readers know that I’ve been very critical of McCain. But for his actual political positions with which I strongly disagree. Not because he has more money than I have.

This is Common Sense. I’m Paul Jacob.

HI PAUL
I AGREE WITH YOU 100%. I GET SO SICK AND TIRED OF HEARING ABOUT THIS MORON BARRACK OBAMA AND THE DNC. IT DOESN’T MATTER HOW MANY HOUSES JOHN McCAIN OWNS. OBAMA WILL BE A DISASTER TO THIE NATION AND IT’S CONSTITUTION IF HE’S ELECTED. I PRAY THAT GOD WILL OPEN THE EYES OF THE LIBERALS BEFORE IT’S TO LATE..

Paul, I don’t recall hearing Sen. BH Obama talking about the loan on his home or his good neighbor, Mr. indited on 18 felony counts, Rezko or the millions of dollars he helped this slumlord get on the taxpayers dime.

We don’t hear MSM discussing this as they slam Sen. McCain. I’m not a McCain lover myself, but fair is fair.

Common sense is not common.

Obama is critical of people who obtain wealth through productivity in the private sector but is not critical of predators who obtain wealth through government power. More damagingly, he wishes to raise taxes on the wealthiest citizens. That is equivalent to raising tax rates on our most productive citizens, on the value added by their possessions, and on their savings & investments, as well as on the creation of new wealth and new jobs.

If the truth were known, John McCain owns no houses, they are all owned by trust set up by his wife, the financial wizard of the family.

I find the whole idea that McCain, having access to more money than most, is somehow evil or has done something wrong to be useless discussion at its best. But unless I’ve missed something critical in this latest batch of political silliness, the issue wasn’t that he owned multiple homes but that he couldn’t even remember how many he owned. This might actually have relevance in the minds of those wondering whether to vote for this guy. As a secondary thought, I would love to know how McCain has paid for his homes. He hasn’t held a private sector job in decades. His present wife inherited the bulk of her estate. Inheriting wealth, though seemingly a crime for some, is not sinister in my book, but asserting that the McCains have been financially successful is an odd way to describe their wealth. They are obviously allowed to do what they wish with the money they have…and that includes buying multiple homes.

All issues morph, as did this one, but the initial critique was not against his wealth by rather against his poor memory.

I don’t recall Obama criticizing McCain for having a lot of houses. It was for not knowing how many he had. I know several people that are struggling to keep their homes. I have seen several neighborhoods that are becoming blighted because people have already lost their homes. Bad decisions? Bad timing? Bad Luck? Some or all of the above but, they sure know how many homes they have.

Its a nice post about online shopping because Online shopping is fast becoming the most preferred mode of shopping whereby shoppers can reap the advantages of Internet shopping from the luxury of their homes.

Online shopping is now a easy way of buying anything which they want by using the internet.so people want to know more about this.
Its a nice post about the same thing.
